Row, row, row your boat…

…gently across the strait of Oresund (a 5km wide body of water separating Norway and Sweden), and fall asleep halfway.

Joke of the day

I heard this one on the Continuous Call Team yesterday and thought it was quite funny (slightly paraphrased).

A man is in a car accident with a car driven by a dwarf. As the dwarf gets out of his car, he yells at the man, “Listen you idiot! I’m not happy!!”

The man replies “Well which one are you then?”

The Beaker Rick Roll

Hilarious!!

April Fools Day contributions from across the Web

Google has contributed to this day of fraudulent news stories and innovations with its gDay search “feature”.

Virgin Blue is offering discounted fares if you’re willing to stand up for the duration of your flight (according to an ad in today’s Daily Telegraph and mentioned in this News Limited story)

I was thinking about sending an email to everyone in the company announcing my resignation as an April Fools joke, but decided against it in the end…

EDIT: A rather amusing story has come from New Zealand about a radio station who pretended that the Foo Fighters would be performing and received a lot more interest than they’d anticipated. Sydney Morning Herald story can be found here.

    Today’s stupid criminal story

If you were a cannabis cultivator, would you ring the police to report the attempted theft of your crop? News Limited reports that an Adelaide man did exactly that, and has been charged for cultivating cannabis plants for sale.

I congratulate this guy on his…well, honesty, I guess.

    O Holy Night…a bad version.

A few of us at St Thomas’ have a fixation with New Zealand-based singer Wing, who has made a reputation for MIDI-accompanied cover songs, and her rather distinctive and (to some) horrible voice. It’s rather hilarious how songs made famous by AC/DC and the like can be made to sound so comical. Steve and I joked that she should be the headline act at our Family Fun Day during Good News Week, an opportunity that I would be most willing to chase up, even if I was threatened withremoval from the Anglican Church.

I got hold of this cover version of O Holy Night last year, by an unknown artist, and a comment from Dave in my Winamp post prompted me to share it with you.

Enjoy. (And no, it’s not a Rick Roll. I promise I’m not that type of person. Besides, I’ve already blogged about it here, so why should I throw it in again?)

Try making sense of this classifieds ad

Gumtree is an online classifieds/buy/sell/swap site that works just like the Trading Post or any other for sale website like Craigslist. Often there are legitimate ads from people who actually have stuff to sell, and there are the odd instances of scams (of which I was actually a victim last year).

Tonight I stumbled across a strange ad in the computers category of the site. The actual ad is here, but I thought I should paste the description as written for those too scared to click:

There is indeed technical information about the notebook being sold (whether or not it’s a scam is up to you to decide – I tend to think it may be), but it is linked by some well and truly bizarre Engrish. I’m half tempted to email the seller and find out what on earth is being talked about, but I know better.
