Gratuitous musical plug

I don’t know how many of my readers would live around the Penrith area, but if you do and you like really good jazz, take some time to head out to St Pauls Grammar School (Google map can be found here) on Thursday night to see Richard Maegraith (a man of many musical talents who happens to be a friend of mine) and his band perform tracks from a soon to be released album. He’s a very talented saxophonist who spent some time at St Thomas’ for a few years with his wife and children and has an impressive list of artists whom he has shared the stage with.

After doing a bit of scouting, I found that he’ll be releasing the album at The Basement down at Circular Quay (a great club with a renowned history of showcasing the best in live music) on Wednesday 25 June. I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to make it into the city midweek, but if you live closer to the Sydney CBD, $15 is a steal and will be well worth the admission fee.
