Retro running

Until a few minutes ago whilst listening to 2GB’s Continuous Call Team, I’d never have imagined that there was a world championship for retro running (that is, running backwards). Here’s a page that explains the merits of this unorthodox pastime. According to Ray Hadley, the world record for the backwards 100m sprint is around 13.6 seconds (which, considering my lack of elite fitness, I probably couldn’t run in the proper fashion). The 2nd World Championships are to be held near Pisa, Italy in September this year.
