Redeeming Ruth

From the archives of Mars Hill Church comes my current listening material at work – an eye opening and relevant overview of the story of Ruth in the Bible.

Considering my current situation as a single young man, I’m finding Mark Driscoll’s exegesis and application particularly vibrant and challenging. He takes the characteristics of the redeemer Boaz and challenges us to consider how single men can follow Boaz’s lead in the manner in which they engage and interact with a woman who we might be interested in courting/dating with a view towards marriage. Mixed with his typical humour and candor, he also demonstrates how women can learn from the examples of Naomi and Ruth. Most importantly though, he points to the figurehead of Jesus Christ as the Redeemer, whereas Boaz serves as a shadow in his role as redeemer (with a little r) of Ruth.
