A frustrated Panthers fan

My head was of course right…the Roosters were too good for Penrith in front of almost 17000 fans., with the final score 28-12. It was a great atmosphere with the typical chanting and banter between both sets of supporters, but on the field Penrith once again showed that they are yet to fully understand what it takes to be an 80 minute rugby league side.

Mitchell Pearce and Braith Anasta were once again dominant halves, whilst Jarrod Sammut struggled with some poor kicking options and (I think twice) failed to find touch after a penalty. Other than a couple of nervous moments under the high ball, the Chooks didn’t do much wrong and, whilst I haven’t checked the stats, mustn’t have left too many sets incomplete. Penrith had too much dropped ball and couldn’t find the right options when they needed to.

A lot of fans SMS’d the ABC Grandstand commentary team saying that Pearce and Anasta should wear 6 and 7 for the Blues, and once again I’m happy to reiterate my belief that they’re ready for it. On the other hand, Penrith are going to be lambasted in the papers tomorrow, and Matthew Elliott may well find the media vultures circling once more.
