Poll – Computer screen resolution

I have no idea how to create a fancy proper poll on this blog, so I need to do it in a rather boring manner.

I’m a high resolution freak when it comes to viewing a computer screen (or laptop LCD, in my case). I have an IBM Thinkpad T42p which has, amongst many excellent features, a 15″ 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) resolution LCD. It is quite simply a joy to view, and when it comes to viewing anything with lower resolution (such as the garden variety 1024 x 768 XGA resolution), it actually takes me a bit of time to adjust to the different sizes. Higher resolutions have their advantages when it comes to working with Photoshop and fitting several windows on your computer screen, and thanks to my fellow Thinkpad users at the Thinkpads.com forum, who also enjoy high resolution viewing, I was converted last year.

Now it’s over to you – what resolution do you work with at home or office? If you’re not sure, and you use Windows, right click on your desktop, select Properties, then click on the settings tab. It’ll have your current resolution listed there. Anyone who still uses 640 x 480 (VGA) will be questioned as to why. Please include a screenshot of your desktop if you wish – the pic below’s a very scaled down version of mine, but click here to see it in full size.

  1. 1024 x 768 on my home computer (not used much anymore), 1440 x 900 on my laptop, and at work? hmm… i’ll find out tomorrow if i remember.

but why do you want to know?

  2. Just a random question to ask, really…:)
