The Telegraph’s 100 most beautiful cars of all time

Continuing on the theme of lists, here’s a link to what the readers of Britain’s Telegraph magazine voted as the 100 most attractive looking cars ever built. Out of the list, which contains plenty of classic machines whose design traits were arguably ahead of their time by many years, what follows is my personal pick for #1, which comes from the list.

The Porsche 911 is just iconic in so many ways – you can spot one from a mile away thanks to the bug eye headlights and gently sloping rear end. However it’s not just iconic in the sense that the Volkswagen Beetle or Mini is iconic. It’s also aesthetically successful. I personally love the later incarnationsthat still maintain the classic shape but are still sleek enough to look like they were originally designed in the year that they were released. Lots of lovely Italian machines, but this German classic takes the cake for me. It was voted #64 in the Top 100 list.

Please feel free to add your personal favourite cars that may or may not be on the list that the Telegraph’s readers came up with.

  1. Nice blog. I did the same on my web site. It’s a great list.
One point of clarification. The Telegraph is a newspaper, not a magazine.

Oh, I really like the Karmann Ghia and the Mercedes Benz Gullwing.

  2. Oops…so much for my proofing. Thanks for pointing that out 🙂
