Gibson v Guitar Hero

Guitar makers Gibson are at loggerheads with Activision, the creator of the Guitar Hero series of video games, over the concept of “simulated musical performances” (See News Limited report here).

I don’t see the point myself, especially given the working relationship between the 2 companies. That, and the concept of playing an instrument alongside a recording of a musical performance is something that bedroom jammers have done for years upon years. The company who brought guitarists like myself the Les Paul guitar should probably continue to do so and not get themselves bogged down in silly stoushes like this. Gibson should use the association to more aggressively market their instruments and motivate kids who play the video game to take a step up to the real instrument that looks like the one they’re playing on the video game.
