Eamon Sullivan breaks 50m freestyle world record

Fox Sports reports that the former mark of 21.64 seconds, which stood for over 7 years under the name of the great Alex Popov, was “smashed” by 0.08 seconds by this rising star of Aussie swimming tonight at the NSW championships.

We’ve certainly proven that we can produce great middle and long distance swimmers such as Thorpe and Hackett – looks like Sullivan has the speed to break through at the sprint distances.

Congratulations and good luck to him!
