The UK’s BBC network run an annual charity event called Sport Relief, raising money and awareness of depression and other issues that affect vulnerable people in the United Kingdom and in the Third World. As part of the TV telethon, a special called Top Ground Gear Force was shown, where Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May take gardening “skills” and apply them to the yard of famed British rower Sir Stephen Redgrave.
What follows are the hilarious results. There is some slightly coarse language and minor sexual references, but all in all, the progress is typical Top Gear style humour, calamity, and ultimately, a result that is as laughable and as bewildering as the looks on Sir Stephen’s face when he sees the chaos and destruction of his once serene yard. There are also some stories that remind us how extremely blessed we are to have such opulence compared to those in the poorest areas of our world.
